THE ZOOT SUIT IN PINK FOR HIM

Single breasted coat Peak lapel Hollywood-topped trouser

Crafted from a barathea wool, the pink zoot is designed to ensure an outburst of sartorial energy at the disco. An immediate reference to the expressively flamboyant flair of Kid Creole (A.K.A August Darnell) in Oh! What a Night. For ultra theatrical effect, base it with a jet black shirt.

Kimberley’s Cutting Notes: This suit was a joy to create, the trousers were cut with a four inch extension above the natural waist, a thirty four inch knee coming into a fourteen inch bottom. The coat has an eleven inch back shoulder, and as much skirt as the client could carry. We ensured it was historically accurate by an exert from Rebel Rebel: How Mavericks Made the Modern World by Chris Sullivan, “The suit itself comprises a wide-lapelled, often knee-length “killer-diller coat with a drape shape, and shoulders padded like a lunatics cell,” (as Malcolm X succinctly put it), while the deeply pleated trousers ballooned to some 32 inches at the knee and 14 inches at the ankle, below the inevitable long, looping watch chain.” We modernised the coat by adding a huge rope, and cut the waist and chest with less drape than historical imagery.
