Kimberley's Cutting Notes: After discussions with the client, we wanted to combine the strength of masculine tailoring with the clients' own femininity. This juxtaposition led to strong shoulders and roped sleeves, blended with an exaggerated skirt and nipped waist. Looking to Dior's 'New Look' of 1947 I used couture techniques to structure the skirt, giving an amplified silhouette. Next was the colour, choosing a rouge noir base. The red exudes the power, strength and passion that this client wanted to exhibit.
